David Byrne speaking at Good Room, then Brooklyn Museum

Via Brooklyn Vegan

David Byrne will be taking part in a couple interesting events happening in NYC over the next couple weeks. First is a panel discussion titled “Technology, Humans, Curation and the Future of Music Discovery” which happens at Brooklyn’s Good Room on Thursday, July 28. It’s part of the “Mixcloud Curates” series and other panelists include Ryan Schreiber (Pitchfork founder), Emilie Friedlander (Thump editor-in-chief) and Alex White (Founder of Next Big Sound).
It’s free with RSVP.

Then on August 4 at Brooklyn Museum, Byrne will be in conversation with artist Stephen Powers and poet Tom Healy under the heading of “Weird America.” Part of the museum’s Thursday Nights series, this talk is presented in conjunction with Powers’ exhibit Coney Island: Visions of an American Dreamland, 1861–2008 and the related Forever Coney: Photographs from the Brooklyn Museum Collection. Tickets for the talk are available and you can also watch via Brooklyn Museum’s livestream.

There are a couple other events as part of the August 4 Thursday Nights program, both of which are free. Juliana Huxtable will be spinning records from 6-8 PM as part of the museum’s Summer DJ Boom Box Residencies which is in conjunction with their exhibit Boombox Retrospective: 1999–2016. And for the family, Brooklyn Museum will be screening Space Jam in the Steinberg Family Sculpture Garden at 8 PM.
