Rock: David Byrne at the Orpheum Theatre
Thursday and May 18: David Byrne led the wildly influential new wave group the Talking Heads from 1975 to 1991. In his solo career, he has experimented with sounds from around the globe and collaborated with numerous other artists. (His most recent local performance was in September 2012 with St. Vincent.) Byrne’s current tour follows the March release of “American Utopia,” his first solo record in 14 years. He’ll be performing live with a 12-piece band in what he is calling “the most ambitious show I’ve done since the shows that were filmed for ‘Stop Making Sense,’ ” the Talking Heads’ legendary 1984 concert film. So far on the tour, the set lists have been heavy on the new record with seven Talking Heads songs added to the mix. 7:30 p.m.; Orpheum Theatre, 910 Hennepin Ave. S., Mpls.; $179-$61.50; 800-982-2787 or hennepintheatretrust.org.
