DAVID BYRNE at Forest Hills Stadium (Sept. 15, 7 p.m.) and Kings Theater (Sept. 16-17, 8 p.m.). The former frontman of the pioneering new wave band Talking Heads has spent the summer promoting “American Utopia,” his first solo album in 14 years, with an ambitious live show. The tour’s concept is egalitarian: The set is minimal. The drum kit has been replaced with marching band percussion. Mobile and often barefoot, Mr. Byrne and his backing musicians perform a collection of songs from his latest release, his solo catalog and the vast Talking Heads archive. The result is unexpected and convivial — two adjectives that have long been associated with Mr. Byrne’s creations.
